Ancestors

 
One more year has passed - - so fast.
We started to do some research into my parents' ancestry. Wesley is a member of the Westerheim Genealogical Center in Madison, Wisconsin, and there we can see records of most churches in Norway plus records of the ship sailings from major ports of Norway.
Attached is a sample of the church records showing Jacob's baptism and showing the birth year of his parents. It is a start like this that we will work from. This is the trail we will follow:
 
Jacob Oye's father was Andreas Oye
Andreas' father was Soren Skarasjøen
Soren's father was Ola Hagalid, and used the name Ola Lindnes
 
Jacob's mother was Karina
Her mother was Kari Nesvik-Bøen
Her father was Jakob Haug or sometimes Lia
Haug is related to the Tuntlands of South Dakota
 
Jacob Oye's father and mother both trace back to Hjelmeland, Norway
 
Martha Oye's father was Nels Nelson from Moi, Norway
 
Her mother was Marie from Moi, Norway
Marie's father was Lina Sigbjornson
Her father was Sigbjorn Sigbjornson
 
A peak into the past is sometimes interesting. We will see.



We hope you will all have an enjoyable Christmas this year.
We will all miss Don Oye who died in November and pray Trudy and their family will be able to enjoy the closeness of Jesus Christ during this Christmas season.
